Office Visits

What to expect:

Your first visit with us will last about 45 minutes to an hour. This is where the Doctor takes a complete history and performs an exam. The Doctor adjusts the patient on the first visit if she feels it is safe to do so. If she feels an X-ray is imperative before treatment begins, she will make that referral.

Your subsequent visit will last about 15 to 20 minutes. In our office we start every visit with either steaming heat pads or ice packs depending on your issue. Then we follow with a mini massage to loosen up your tight musculature. Dr.Reitz will then provide an adjustment which addresses tension in your joints.

Healing is a two-way street and Dr.Reitz considers herself your partner in health. That's why she finishes the visit by providing home-health instructions such as heat, ice, topical pain relievers, stretches or a recommendation for a therapeutic massage.

Get adjusted. Eat Right. Stretch. Repeat.

INFLAMMATION: IT'S A KILLER

Our bodies produce inflammation to add cushion or to protect the injured area. However, inflammation that hangs around for too long can be damaging because of the chemicals that are produced during the inflammatory process. (Histamines, Bradykinin, Cytokines.) So, how do you get rid of inflammation? There are excellent anti-inflammatory supplements on the market such as Qunol Turmeric and Curcumin. There is also an interesting supplement called Immy that supports gut health and manages inflammation. If you are going to resort to good 'ole ibuprofen, make sure your stomach is coated with food before taking it. Do not take ibuprofen if you have an ulcer.

Did you know that you can control inflammation through diet?

The rule of thumb while trying to control inflammation: No processed foods, no sugar, no alcohol, no caffeine, no fried food. Remember, this is temporary. You can do it.

No, you cant. Avoid inflammatory vegetables such as eggplant, tomatoes (that includes salsa and pizza!), peppers of any sort, potatoes, just to name a few. Solanine, found in night shades, can trigger inflammation. Although the current research on night shades is anecdotal, eat on the safe side. Stick to the leafy green vegetables.

Green leafy vegetables, salmon, walnuts, tuna, sardines, berries, chicken breast, greek yogurt, just to name a few. Feel free to discuss diet with Dr. Reitz

Nope. Citrus fruits such as grapefruit, lemon and oranges are rich in vitamin C, flavonoids and antioxidants which can reduce inflammation.

Chiropractic
